International rules for audits of sustainability statements have been approved for voluntary use within the UK, the country’s audit watchdog said Wednesday.
The Financial Reporting Council published the UK’s version of International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board 2024 rules governing sustainability audits. The UK version of the standard is “intended for voluntary use by UK assurance providers,” the watchdog said.
- The move “marks a significant step in establishing a consistent framework for sustainability assurance in the UK,” said Mark Babington, the FRC’s executive director of regulatory standards. “It reflects our commitment to internationally aligned standards.”
