Post-Brexit Reset for UK, EU to Include Accounting Credentials

The UK government plans to work with the EU toward mutual recognition of professional qualifications for accountants that prepare and review corporate financial statements.

Such an agreement would allow accountants credentialed in the UK to sign off on audits of European businesses, and EU accountants could do the same for UK companies.

A broader deal to reset post-Brexit relations between the UK and EU will include “dedicated dialogues” on “the recognition of professional qualifications,” the UK government said in a statement Monday.
