No Colorado employers may pay subminimum wages to disabled employees, according to an Oct. 31 announcement from the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. The measure is retroactively effective to July 2023.
The department had the authority to eliminate subminimum wages for employees with disabilities, under a 2021 law. If the department took no action, subminimum wages were to expire effective July 1, 2025.
