Maryland reduced its unemployment insurance tax rates for 2024, according to a Jan. 3 update on the state labor department.
Tax rates for experienced employers in 2024 are determined using Table A and range from 0.3% to 7.5%, according to Maryland’s tax rate table. For comparison, tax rates in 2023 were determined using Table C and ranged from 1% to 10.5%.
The tax rate for new employers is 2.6%, according to the table. Maryland also has a separate tax rate that applies to new construction employers headquartered in another state, which is 3.3% for 2024.
