Michigan’s unemployment insurance tax rates slightly increased for 2026, according to an official from the state’s Unemployment Insurance Agency.
Unemployment insurance tax rates for experienced employers range from 0.06% to 12.2% for 2026, up from a range of 0.06% to 10.3% for 2025, the official told Bloomberg Tax on Feb. 10. The tax rate for new employers is 2.7%, but new construction employers are assigned a 5% rate in 2026, the official said Feb. 17.
Michigan’s unemployment-taxable wage base for 2026 is $9,000 for most employers and $9,500 for delinquent employers, the state previously announced.
