New Jersey Exempts Minor League Baseball From Wage-Hour Laws

New Jersey exempted Minor League Baseball players from its wage-hour laws and wage payment recordkeeping requirements under a bill effective Sept. 11.

AB 5692 exempts Minor League Baseball players who are covered under a collective bargaining agreement that provides for wages and working conditions. Minor League Baseball players are currently covered under a collective bargaining agreement, the bill said.

New Jersey has two Minor League Baseball teams: the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and the Somerset Patriots.

Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed AB 5692 into law on Sept. 11.
