North Carolina’s unemployment insurance rates are unchanged for 2024, according to an update on the Department of Commerce’s website.
Tax rates for experienced employers range from 0.06% to 5.76%, according to the website. The tax rate for an experienced employer is calculated by subtracting the employer’s reserve ratio percentage from the base tax rate, which is unchanged at 1.9% for 2024.
The tax rate for new employers is 1%, under state law.
North Carolina’s unemployment-taxable wage base for 2024 is $31,400, up from $29,600 for 2023.
