- Ohio’s minimum wage is expected to rise to $8.80 from $8.70, effective Jan. 1
- The Department of Commerce typically announces by early October any minimum-wage adjustments
The Ohio hourly minimum wage is expected to increase to $8.80 from $8.70, effective Jan. 1, Bloomberg Tax calculations showed.
The tipped-worker hourly minimum cash wage also is expected to rise to $4.40 from $4.35, effective Jan. 1, based on Bloomberg Tax & Accounting calculations. Employers may pay tipped employees half of the state minimum wage rate if tips combined with wages are equal to or greater than the minimum wage rate for all hours worked.
The calculations were based on statutory requirements and Bureau of Labor Statistics data that was released Sept. 11.
Minimum-wage adjustments that would take effect in 2021 would be announced in October by the state Department of Commerce.
