Rhode Island’s hourly minimum wage is to rise to $11.50 from $10.50 on Oct. 1.
The state’s maximum tip credit is to rise to $7.61 from $6.61. The state’s tipped-worker minimum hourly cash wage is $3.89.
Full-time students younger than 19 who work in a nonprofit religious, educational, or community service organizations may be paid 90% of the minimum wage, which is to rise to $10.35 from $9.45 on Oct. 1.
The hourly minimum wage is $11 in neighboring Connecticut and $12.75 in Massachusetts.
The Rhode Island increase comes under measures (2020-S 2147A, 2020-H 7157A) that were signed March 10 by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D).
