The unemployment insurance tax rate for new employers in Tennessee remains 2.7% through June 30, 2025, according to the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Tennessee is one of the few states to determine its new employer rate for a period starting July 1 and ending June 30 of the following year. The department released the 2.7% rate effective July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, in an August 2024 update to its employer status form.
The state separately released its unemployment insurance rates for experienced employers last month.
