Charter Ruling Imperils NY Tax Incentives, Business Group Argues

Businesses will avoid setting up shop in New York if a ruling denying a lower corporation franchise tax rate to Charter Communications Inc. stands, a trade association told a state appeals court.

Charter Communications Inc., formerly known as Time Warner Cable, is appealing a 2024 state tax tribunal ruling that it owes an additional $5.99 million in tax and $1.86 million in interest for tax years 2012 to 2014 because some of its member entities weren’t located in New York.
