Senate lawmakers confirmed Adam Landy to be a US Tax Court judge Monday, chipping away at the busy court’s vacancies.
Landy, confirmed by a 73-13 vote, has been a special trial judge on the court since 2021. His confirmation comes after last week’s confirmation of fellow nominee Kashi Way, who was also confirmed on a bipartisan vote.
- The two represent the first picks nominated by President Joe Biden join the court. Votes on confirming the remaining four nominees—Rose Jenkins, Cathy Fung, Benjamin A. Guider III, and Jeffrey S. Arbeit—have not yet been scheduled.
- Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said he has received assurances from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) that confirming the rest of the nominees will be a top priority for the chamber.
- Judges serve 15-year terms on the court, which had six vacancies prior to the recent confirmation votes. The court has relied on special trial and senior status judges to keep the busy court operating.
